European Parliament to Host Hearing on “Fusion Energy in Europe: Call for Action”
On 27 January 2026, the Fusion Industry Association is supporting the European Parliament in convening a high-level event, “Fusion Energy in Europe: Call for Action,” taking place from 15:00 to 17:00 at the ANTALL Building, Room 6Q1, European Parliament in Brussels.
MEPs Hildegard Bentele (EPP, Germany) and Pascal Arimont (EPP, Belgium) are bringing together European Commissioner Ekaterina Zaharieva (EU Commissioner for Startups, Research and Innovation), Federal Minister Dorothee Bär (Germany’s Federal Minister for Research, Technology and Space), and other policymakers, industry leaders, investors, and innovators to explore how Europe can turn growing political support for fusion into a concrete industrial opportunity and a cornerstone of Europe’s long-term energy security.
The event comes as the European Commission prepares its first-ever EU Fusion Strategy, while Member States advance ambitious national initiatives to support fusion R&D and commercialization. Together, these efforts signal a clear recognition that fusion energy can play a vital role in delivering clean, secure, and reliable power at scale.
However, momentum alone is not enough. Realizing fusion’s potential will require coordinated policy frameworks, sustained investment, and close collaboration between public institutions and the private sector. This event will focus on what is needed to bridge that gap – ensuring Europe remains competitive and positioned as a global leader.
The FIA thanks the MEPs for their leadership in hosting the event and looks forward to welcoming stakeholders in Brussels for a focused and forward-looking discussion on how Europe can move decisively from vision to deployment.
Below is the event agenda.
