FIA Issues Support for NRC Commissioner Baran
On May 25, 2023, the Fusion Industry Association (FIA) sent a letter to Senator Carper, Chairman of the Senate Committee on Environment and Public Works, and Senator Capito, Ranking Member, in support of the re-nomination of Commissioner Baran to the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC). The FIA applauds the Commissioner’s diligence throughout the process leading up to, and the vote of, fusion regulations falling under the 10 CFR Part 30 Approach. The Commissioners’ vote separated fusion regulations from nuclear fission, a crucial step in accelerating fusion industry efforts towards commercialization.
