IAEA Director General Grossi Launches World Fusion Outlook 2025
At the October 14th joint opening of the Second Ministerial Meeting of the IAEA World Fusion Energy Group (WFEG) and the 30th IAEA Fusion Energy Conference (FEC) in Chengdu, China, Director General Grossi announced the World Fusion Outlook 2025 report. The IAEA’s third annual report serves as a reference for information on the state-of-play around fusion energy research, technology development, and deployment. It also undertakes a country-by-country assessment of fusion development, highlighting the work of many FIA member companies across the world.
This year’s report highlights the rapid pace at which fusion is advancing, coupled with expanded company and capital entry into the industry. It includes findings from our 2025 global fusion industry report and 2025 supply chain report. The report also discusses trends across nations, where governments are increasingly prioritizing fusion in national strategies.
“The Outlook is not just a snapshot of progress; it’s a glimpse into our energy future that is arriving fast.”
IAEA Director General Rafael Mariano Grossi
