Fusion Industry Association Internship

FIA is hiring for a Winter/Spring Fusion Policy Internship (Jan-May 2021)

The Fusion Industry Association (FIA) is looking for current or recently graduated students interested in hands-on public policy experience for full- and part-time internships. Interns will support FIA researchers and staff in multiple areas including communications, policy development, programming and research. The intern will be responsible writing press releases, event reviews, and contributing to reports.

The FIA is an initiative of the American Security Project, a non-partisan national security think tank, and the role will be coordinated with other activities at ASP.

FIA’s internship program offers interns the opportunity to interface with the growing private fusion community, as well as with the broader energy community. At the conclusion of the internship, outstanding interns may be eligible to remain connected to the organization as Adjunct Junior Fellows, when appropriate.

Due to the COVID-19 situation, these internships will likely be conducted remotely, with options to work in the office, located in downtown DC, if conditions permit.

REQUIREMENTS:

Internships are unpaid, though a transportation stipend is provided and current students may arrange to obtain course credit for their work.

Applicants must be at least a junior in college, though preference will be given to recent graduates and graduate students. Strong writing skills are required, as is the ability to work independently. The ideal candidate should have a background and experience in science of energy issues. Experience in physics and plasma science is not required, but would be an asset. Interns should be authorized to work in the United States

Applicants must be willing to work a minimum of 20 hours per week, and be available 3 days per week or more.

APPLY:

Applicants for the internship should send a 1.) cover letter, 2.) resume, 3.) references, and a 4.) short writing sample (2 pg. max) by January 15, 2021 to FIA Executive Director Andrew Holland at aholland@FusionIndustryAssociation.org.

If you do not include all the required materials, your application will be disqualified.
