The Fusion Industry Association (FIA) is the unified voice of the fusion industry is working to transform the energy system with commercially viable fusion power. Private companies are leading the transition of clean, safe, affordable fusion energy from scientific labs to the commercial marketplace.
The FIA is looking for a talented and motivated professional to manage external communications for the association. Reporting directly to the CEO, the new Manager for Outreach would help the Association and its members make the case for fusion energy through direct contact with press, stakeholders, and the broader public.
While a knowledge and background in science is optional, passion for building a clean-energy future, enabled by the deep decarbonization possibilities of fusion energy is essential.
You would join a small team that is already making a difference, building public-private partnerships with the U.S. government, working with regulators to make sure that fusion is appropriately overseen, and showing the world how fusion will remake the global energy system.
The Outreach Manager will support FIA staff and consultants in bringing the message about the accelerated pathway to commercial fusion energy to both broad audiences and to targeted stakeholders.
Responsibilities for this role are broad, across the scope of the Association. The successful candidate will coordinate the FIA’s Communications Committee, directly liaising with FIA member and affiliate member companies in building the narrative about fusion; lead all FIA digital outreach on social media, email marketing, and our flagship “Fusion News” video series; plan and coordinate all public events in Washington and around the country; support the CEO in management of press and media contacts; and develop relationships with policymakers to accelerate the FIA’s priorities.
Applicants should have a college degree and 2-5 years of experience in a communications or outreach role. The ideal candidate should have understanding and interest in either clean energy public policy or physical science.
Employees should be authorized to work in the United States, and the position is located at the FIA’s offices in Washington, DC.
