U.S. Department of Energy Releases Fusion Energy Public-Private Consortium Request for Information
The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) released a Request for Information (RFI) on a proposed Fusion Energy Public-Private Consortium Framework (PPCF). The PPCF aims to build on other initiatives within the U.S. Fusion Strategy, including the Milestone Program and FIRE Collaboratives, to catalyze partnerships to accelerate fusion commercialization.
By pooling resources and knowledge from diverse groups, the PPCF could significantly accelerate fusion research and developments, fund greater collaboration between public and private entities, foster innovation, and form effective partnerships.
“A PPCF is needed at this time to achieve the pace of R&D and project delivery with the required funding within the United States (U.S.) Bold Decadal Vision (BDV) timeframe.”
