Bipartisan Congressional letters urge increased fusion funding
A bipartisan letter signed by 72 Members of Congress, requesting increased funding into the commercialization of fusion energy, was sent to the House Appropriations Committee on October 31. Here is the letter, led by Representatives Beyer, Obernolte, Trahan, and Lofgren.
Additionally, a Senate letter led by Senators Booker and Padilla was sent to Senate Appropriators. And a Community letter, including private industry, suppliers, and universities, was sent, also urging fusion funding.
These letters give an important signal to the Appropriations Committees that theĀ currently-proposed levels of fusion funding are insufficient, and that increasing funding is not only a priority for both the public and private sectors, it is a bipartisan and bicameral priority. We at the Fusion Industry Association, representing the 38 companies all working to commercialize fusion energy, strongly support the three letters.
