FIA participates in 19th Annual Energy Tech Venture Forum
Rice Alliance hosted a conference on September 15, focusing largely on the clean energy transition and the investment needed to achieve a carbon-zero future. The day-long conference at Rice University’s campus in Houston, TX included keynote speakers, panels, and a showcase on innovative emerging energy firms.
Caroline spoke on a panel on fusion alongside Kieran Furlong, Realta Fusion, Matthew Moynihan, New Light Consulting, and Zachary McDaniels, Westinghouse. The panel discussed the current state of fusion, where it’s headed, and recent government and regulatory actions, as well as differentiated fusion from fission energy.
It was great to see fusion represented in other sessions at the conference:
- Ann DeWitt, General Partner at The Engine (venture capital firm in Boston) gave an opening keynote fireside chat, and mentioned FIA member company Commonwealth Fusion Systems as an exciting breakthrough firm The Engine invests in.
- CEO Francesco Volpe at FIA member company Renaissance Fusion gave a presentation on the innovative work his firm is doing as they work to achieve fusion commercialization.
- Serge Tismen, Managing Director and Global Co-Head of the Clean Energy Transition at Citibank, mentioned fusion in his closing keynote discussion as a necessary option to achieve a clean energy future.
