Fusion Industry Association: Space Committee
The Fusion Industry Association Space Committee operates as an arm of the FIA to support the role of fusion energy in expanding space operations, and has written the following mission statement to help guide their efforts in promoting the development of fusion spacecraft power & propulsion.
The purpose of the Fusion Industry Association’s Space Committee (FIASC) is to help sustain and grow a community of companies that are developing fusion power and propulsion for use in space applications. The committee will promote the space-related activities of FIASC members, and provide aerospace industry perspective in the areas of safety, program funding, regulatory policy, and technology to foster the development of space fusion propulsion & power. It will identify and promote novel space missions which are enabled by fusion devices. Space platforms which may benefit from fusion include orbital platforms, interplanetary spacecraft, and planetary surface installations. Applications include national security, scientific exploration, civilian space travel, and industrial development of space assets. FIASC will also strive to educate the public on the benefits of space fusion power and propulsion and encourage fusion-relevant career development.
